AN hour’s free parking and the ability to pay parking charges by mobile phone could be introduced across Wychavon District Council owned car parks.
The recommendations were made by councillors on the Strategic Car Park Review Working Group, which has been looking at how much the council charges for parking, how car parks are managed and potential alternative uses for them.
Under the proposals, anyone buying two hours worth of parking in short stay car parks in Evesham, Droitwich and Pershore will get a third hour for free.
In Broadway anyone buying three hours of parking will get a fourth hour free.
The group also recommended a trial of payment by mobile phone.
The proposals are set to be discussed at a meeting of Wychavon’s Executive Board on Wednesday, June 10.
If approved, the free hour of parking would be introduced this summer.
