A HEREFORDSHIRE MP has denied complaining about a television crew filming in the House of Commons.

Conservative Bill Wiggin said reports he moaned to Commons Speaker John Bercow about the presence of the BBC crew are "Guardian rubbish".

The claims were made in the broadsheet paper ahead of a BBC Two documentary beginning next week showing behind-the-scenes footage of the famous Central Government building.

"I'm actually defending the cameraman," said the north Herefordshire MP.

"I'm asking him (Mr Bercow) if we can find a safe place for him.

"He had already hit me on the head accidentally with his camera and I was trying to find him a better place to film.

"It's just Guardian rubbish."

Mr Wiggin denied having any issue with filming taking place at the House of Commons.

"We get filmed all the time here," he said.

"The Commons debates are televised. I don't have particularly strong feelings one way or the other."

The Guardian piece also alleged plans by backbench Tory MPs to sabotage the filming by "knocking over a cameraman and forcing filming to be abandoned," an event not said to include Mr Wiggin.

Inside the Commons is a four part show. The first episode will be aired on BBC Two next Tuesday.
