RESIDENTS have a chance to have their say on no changes to the council tax support scheme.
Earlier this year Redditch Council implemented changes to how much support residents get towards paying their council tax bills.
This scheme has to be reviewed each year and at recent meeting of the council’s executive committee, it was agreed that no substantial changes to the current scheme would be made for 2015/16. This does not include the changes to the national benefit rates and personal allowances as announced by the Department of Work and Pensions.
Councillor John Fisher, whose portfolio covers finance, said: “We are not planning any substantial changes, however we would be keen to hear views on the draft scheme before it is put in place."
Local Council Tax Support (LCTS) replaced council tax benefit on April 1 2013 as part of major changes to the welfare benefits system.
LCTS is determined by local councils and there are possible options which can be put in place.
