THE leader of Redditch Council, Councillor Leader Bill Hartnett, is urging budding Alan Sugars to pop along to a skills and education show to help them decide their future careers.

Skills on Show is being held at the NEC in Birmingham from Thursday, November 13 until Saturday, November 19, and will allow young people to engage with potential employers and see what training is on offer.

Coun Harnett said: "Jobs and skills are vitally important and I want to see Redditch playing its role in pushing up the number of apprentices and skilled people that this country needs.

"As a former apprentice I helped lead on pushing apprenticeship schemes in Redditch when we saw 50 companies sign up to taking young people on.

"I want to encourage our young residents in finding the right career . At this age the world really is your oyster and making the correct decisions is vital.

It would be great if Redditch’s younger residents were among the 100,000 people expected to attend the skills show.

He added that it was good that the show would be open on a Saturday, giving parents a chance to accompany their children.
