WOMEN from across the county are gearing up for the annual Venus Midnight Walk to raise funds for a Herefordshire charity this Saturday.

The event is a sponsored 10k walk for women, providing time for them to come together to remember their loved ones while raising money for St Michael's Hospice.

And Hereford courier firm APC Hereford has re-affirmed its support for the charity by delivering more than 350 sponsorship packs ahead of the event.

As the event’s main sponsor, the firm has been busy delivering the welcome packs, sponsorship forms and T-shirts to all participants.

The business has also pledged £2,000 in sponsorship.

St Michaels Hospice is the main provider of specialist palliative care in Herefordshire and the Venus Midnight event is a sponsored 10k walk for women, providing time for them to come together to remember their loved ones.

Matt Ashcroft, events manager at St Michaels Hospice, said: “The Venus Midnight Walk in 2013 raised a huge sum of £50,000 and the support of local businesses such as APC Hereford is invaluable to us. We’ve aimed to top this figure in 2014 and the funds raised will support local patients and their families at the time they need it most.”
