BROMSGROVE Scouts are appealing for new adult volunteers to support their groups.

In the district, about 800 children are taking part in scouting currently, with another 200 waiting to join.

The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts clubs needs more adult volunteers, willing to do the required training and commit to giving their time in return for shaping the future generations through fun and adventure.

Roy Clarke, district commissioner for the scouts, said: “I am looking for some local heroes to take on a big challenge as leaders and as group managers.

“If I could find these people that I know are unknowingly waiting to be unearthed, we can really make a difference across the district.

“We are looking for people with a commitment to getting involved with the community. General people from the local area, if they are ex-scouts then that is even better.

“I feel really proud of the children we have, many have gone on to achieve really good things.”

On Friday, a Bromsgrove Beaver colony had to be disbanded as their leader was no longer available to take the group due to work commitments.

The Scout Association offers qualifications and work experience to those who want to get involved.

Potential volunteers need to be over 18 and can be male or female. They must pass a DBS, which is an in-depth criminal background check.
