RUBERY churchgoers can now welcome a new face to the town as Claire Turner is now appointed  the new priest-in-charge at St Chad’s.

More than 150 people attended a celebratory service which was held on Thursday, September 4.

Members of the local community, some of the new reverends past colleagues along with clergy from Churches Together in B45 postcode area, united for the service lead by the Bishop of Birmingham Rt Rev David Urquhart, assisted by the Archdeacon of Birmingham Rev Hayward Osborne and Rev Melusi Sibanda.

Reverend Turner joins the church after three years in Wednesfield and brings with her previous experience of working at various arts organisations.

She said: “I am absolutely delighted to have arrived in Rubery and am really excited about how the ministry of St Chad’s might grow and develop over the coming years.

“It’s been wonderful to meet both those who have been worshipping at St Chad’s for many years and people who have joined the church more recently and I’m looking forward to welcoming those who will no doubt come for the first time in the future.”

Mrs Turner and her family are looking forward to seeing more of the community.

The main weekly worshipping takes place at 10am on Sunday mornings with events, services and social activities taking place at other times.

Residents are invited to come in for a coffee on Saturday, September 20 anytime between 10 and noon.
