PART of the footpath between A&E and the visitor car park at Worcestershire Royal Hospital will be blocked for about two weeks from Monday, August 4 while landscaping work is carried out.

Patients will still be able to access the department via a signposted zebra crossing while the work takes place at the hospital's new radiotherapy centre.

The new centre is due to open in early 2015 and will allow up to 95 per cent of cancer patients in Worcestershire to be treated closer to home rather than having to travel to Cheltenham or Birmingham.

Director of estates at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust – which runs the Royal along with Kidderminster Hospital and Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital – Steve Lloyd said: “We apologise for any inconvenience these works will cause.

“We will endeavour to minimise any disruption caused to patients and visitors.”
