AN ANNUAL fair steams into town this weekend even though its normal site is flooded.
The Carter Steam fair has set up at West Wycombe field, near the Golden Ball, for decades but this year the heavy rain has caused them to move.
Anna Carter said: "The field at West Wycombe has been under water for months so we cannot set up in our usual spot. We have moved down the other end of the field but we want to let people know that we are still there."
The steam fair will be at the field on Saturday and Sunday, from 2pm, including a firework display on Saturday evening as soon as it gets dark.
Anna added: "We have bought in special tracking so people can park and we are only going to be a bit further down the field with all the usual rides and events."
All the regular steam rides will be there, including some dating back to 1895.
"We have the steam-driven rock and roll machines too," said Anna. "A lot of people come to see those, because we play all the original vinyl rock and roll records."
The Carter Steam Fair is a family business handed down through the generations. Anna ran it with her husband, but he died last year, and now she runs it with her children.
