Pupils experience spirit of cathedral

12:31pm Wednesday 7th May 2008

PUPILS from Redditch experienced the sound, feel and shape of the service of Holy Communion at Worcester Cathedral.

The first two JC Today events of the year took place this month as pupils from Feckenham First School and Tardebigge First School visited the cathedral to learn about Jesus Christ.

After a special welcome from the Bishop of Worcester on the first day, the programme included two arts-based workshops in the morning which built towards a service of Holy Communion after lunch, to which pupils brought their songs, drama, dance and art which they learnt about in the morning.

David Morphy, the diocesan director of education, said: "I'm delighted that our teachers want us to continue to offer this opportunity for pupils to be creatively involved in Christian worship.

"It brings together a team of staff, volunteers and musicians who, with the talents and understanding of the pupils, together make for memorable worship."
