3:26pm Tuesday 1st July 2008

YOUNGSTERS from a Woodrow nursery proved their performing talents while raising money for an excellent cause.

Children from Little Angels Nursery held a charity event to support the Touching Tiny Lives Campaign where the children put on a play and sang songs all based around Paddington Bear's anniversary.

The children made bear ears to wear and gathered on the stage to sing songs such as Going on a Bear Hunt and Down in the Jungle.

They also performed Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

A nursery spokesman said: "Paddington Bear arrived from Peru and the children were very excited as they had been waiting for him all week. The children were brilliant, and sang happily to their audience. All the parents were very proud and commented on how well they had done.

"After the play we had a teddy bears picnic where Paddington joined us with his sandwiches. A great time was had by all and over £112 was raised. Thank you to everyone who came and to the children for their hard work."
