Man’s best friend inspires artwork

A REDDITCH artist who lost his German shepherd and turned to painting dogs as therapy has recently show some of his work at an exhibition at Millsborough House.

Eric Glendenning, 80, is a widower and the blow of losing his faithful companion was a big one.

As well as painting dogs, he turned to landscapes, waterscapes and human portraits, and began selling his paintings as well as winning art competitions.

"I was very close to my dog, as dog and man usually are, and his death was devastating," said Eric.

"The experience of art I've had is merely doing it at school but you don't achieve anything without a bit of effort."

Eric has been a member of the Redditch Art Circle for a number of years and uses a method of painting raindrops on floral paintings that he feels brings a remarkable realism to the pictures "I'm pleased with what I've achieved but want to do more and want to help others to get better," he added.
