MP gets on board skate park project
THE shadow culture secretary was far from "board" during a trip to see the positive affect a skate park in Redditch is having on young people.
Jeremy Hunt MP, was in the town with Conservative spokesman Karen Lumley to see the facility at Morton Stanley Park and was impressed with the work done in finding activities for younger people to get involved in.
"I was visiting because I wanted to see the result of some hard work by local Conservative councillors who campaigned for the skate park in order to give young people something enjoyable to do in their spare time," said Mr Hunt.
"I wanted to see what could be done because a lot of people are concerned about antisocial behaviour and practical solutions like the skate park are a brilliant way to do deal with those concerns."
He went on to say he felt it was good that a positive solution was being tried, rather than more negative solutions of cracking down on antisocial behaviour with tougher measures.
Mrs Lumley added: "It's an excellent facility.
"I've been there many times and it has been a great way to cut down on antisocial behaviour as well as giving young people somewhere to call their own."
