Report praises nursery

12:23pm Wednesday 7th May 2008

YOUNGSTERS and staff from Lucy Locket Kindergarten at Mount Carmel have a real reason to be cheerful after an Ofsted report said it was good with some outstanding features.

Inspector Christine Lynn Williams found the nursery education to be outstanding, in particular, the quality of teaching and learning.

Children at the nursery, which is adjacent to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, were said to be making exceptional progress, while enjoying a wealth of quality and well-planned activities.

Mrs Williams praised the high levels of commitment shown by management and staff, who work closely together to provide rich learning experiences.

She also said that particular praise should go to Lucia Skinner, Lucy Locket manager, whose leadership and management were deemed outstanding.

Lucia said: "We're all very pleased with Oftsed's comments, the staff work extremely hard and are very dedicated."

Areas outlined for improvement were to obtain early information about children's developmental starting points and personalities and improve the range and frequency of outside play for the youngest children in the nursery.
