HUNDREDS of people turned up to the official launch of YMCA's Willow Trees Children's Centre in Church Hill on Saturday.

Jacqui Smith MP opened the day by planting a willow tree, donated by Hilliers Garden Centre, to mark the occasion.

Ms Smith said: "I was very impressed with all the children's centre staff and everything they are doing to help children and their families."

Helen Horton, YMCA's children's centre manager, was thrilled with how well the day went. She said: "It was fantastic that so many families came to see all that we offer.

"The children really enjoyed taking part in the launch day's activities such as circus skills, balloon modelling as well as the outdoor sports activities."

Willow Trees Children's Centre has many groups running during the week for pre-school children and their parents/carers such as health clinics, messy play and stay and play groups, a pre-school nursery, debt advice, relationship advice and much more.
