FECKENHAM Village Wake committee may erect a pavilion on the playing field - reputed to be the site of an ancient hunting lodge of King John - Redditch Urban District Council was told last Thursday.

Councillor W Allcock, who is one of the representatives for Astwood Bank and Feckenham, said that the Wake committee were beginning to accumulate a certain amount of funds, and it was their intention to erect a pavilion on the field for dressing room facilities.

The council said it had no objections to the scheme in principle but any plans submitted would need approval.

The Clerk (Mr W Irving Watkins) explained that as the field was scheduled as an ancient monument, three months notice of any alterations to the field would have to be given to the Ministry of Works.
