AS a result of Tuesday's elections for seats on Worcestershire County Council, three of four county electoral divisions in Redditch are now held by Labour, that party having increased its representation by the defeat of Mr Howard J Bird (Conservative) by Mr Christopher J Cadbury in the South Division.

After 12 years membership of the county council, Mr Bird lost his seat by 377 votes.

Mr Cadbury, who is a member of the British Cocoa Corporation, polled 1,802 votes against 1,425 for Mr Bird.

There was no change in the Central and East Divisions and Councillor E A Treadgold was unopposed in the West Division.
