TEN workers were laid off at a Redditch bicycle firm which closed this week and is facing liquidation.

Employees of the Park Farm firm Townsend Cycles, which once boasted a weekly output of 200 bikes, were sent home on Monday.

As Mr Zackheim had only been involved with the company for one week, he could only hazard a guess that it had got into difficulty because of intense competition in the market.

He added that the firm had been owned by director Mr Terry Hall until he sold 75 per cent of the shares to Moseley company Progressive Cleaning.
