FIRSTLY, I would like to congratulate the local council on how much cleaner the ladies changing room was last time I went swimming at Hewell Road.
However, and this is my problem, I have not been able to swim since the improved' timetable was introduced in April.
I usually swim with a male family friend and my husband. Due to work commitments we can not usually get there until about 6.30pm, and under the old times we could go Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Now we can not get there at all. I will briefly outline why:- On Monday one of us belongs to a theatrical society and has rehearsal's.
Tuesday - The men cannot go with me (ladies night) Wednesday - is lanes only which is not only very boring, but one of us is not a strong enough swimmer to do lanes.
Thursday - water aerobics only.
Friday - see Tuesday.
Saturday - I work until 6pm or 7pm.
Sunday - lanes again and clubs.
When we personally were asked to fill-in a questionnaire about opening times, I believe we all said longer opening and possibly adults only in the evening.
What we did not expect was that we could not go at all.
Two out of three of us is trying to lose a bit of weight and improve our fitness. We are constantly being told that swimming is the best way to both. It is a great shame that Redditch council is preventing us from taking advantage of our local pool, and goodness only knows how you will cope when the new law comes in promising free swimming for everyone!
