IN answer to Councillor Juliet Brunner's comments in the local press, I repeat the planned purchase of Hartlebury Castle for £3.5 million on top of the £840,000 spent on County Hall decor by the ruling Tory group at county level is deplorable.
I hope my letters and Juliet's denials will stop this project dead in its tracks.
Juliet raises the issue of fair funding for schools and she is right. It is high time the Tory's started funding schools in Redditch as well as they do in other parts of the county.
Over the last couple of years every school in Bromsgrove has been rebuilt, what did we in Redditch get? Next year throughout Worcester one in three schools will be rebuilt, in Redditch only one in five. The following two years Redditch falls further behind. Is this a fair way for a Tory county council to divide its education spending? It is because successive Tory run councils underspent on education we need to address funding now anyway.
