Make a note...
IF Mr Martin Boniface would like to look at the Bank of England's own website, he would discover that in fact Bank of Scotland Bank notes are NOT legal tender in England (referemce last week's letter in Your view regarding a market trader declining to accept a Scottish banknote).
They can be accepted as such only if both parties agree to do so.
Perhaps Mr Boniface should take his own advice and learn the laws of this land before he is so scathing about market traders and their business.
The person concerned had every right to refuse to accept the note
I believe the legal term is ignorance of the law is no defence'.
