Hollywood WI
THE April meeting was well attended and the president thanked members and committee for their co-operation and hard work in organising the Weatheroak group meeting which had been held in March. It had been a great success.
We were then introduced to the Bloxham triplets, or rather two of them, Mary and Margaret, Georgina had not been able to come.
They had been born in Hall Green over seventy years ago and had an older brother, Eric.
Their birth, at home, had been quite normal, with no fuss or incubators! and had spent a loving childhood with their parents and brother without any help or form of advertising apart from the Midland Counties giving them free pasturised milk until they were five for allowing them to use photos of the triplets. They were identical.
They had been brought up as members of Hall Green Baptist Church and had been in the Guide movement since 1944 and were still members. They had enjoyed dancing for many years.
All three had had different careers and since their 60th birthdays had been giving talks about their childhood and lives. The money raised is given to Edwards Trust, a charity attached to Birmingham Children's
Hospital which helps to provide accommodation and extra help to parents whose children are in hospital. Members enjoyed looking at the photographs and memorabilia brought by Mary and Margaret and were enthralled by all they had to reccount.
Pauline Robertson gave the vote of thanks. The raffle was won by Yvonne Finch and Maureen Furnell the competition of three flowers.
The next meeting on May 7 will be the Resolution meeting, when the resolutions will be discussed and
voted on to go forward to the AGM in London. New members and visitors are always wecome.
