REDDITCH MP Karen Lumley is encouraging people throughout the area to give time to benefit the local community.

The MP recently joined broadcaster and campaigner, Esther Rantzen, in the build up to CSV Make a Difference Day.

The day, this Saturday, October 27, is the UK’s biggest day of volunteering with events taking place a week either side.

Mrs Lumley said: “I'm delighted to join Esther in promoting such a wonderful day of volunteering.

“People from all backgrounds all have something to offer the local community and I encourage anyone who may have been inspired by the Olympics and Paralaympic Games to take a step and volunteer on CSV day.”

This year the focus of the day is sharing skills and personal passions to support the local community.

The campaign is looking to demonstrate how giving time through volunteering with friends, family and neighbours can help local community clubs, groups and small charities survive during difficult economic times.

Esther Rantzen, CSV Make a Difference Day ambassador added: “I am encouraging MPs and people of all ages to take part in CSV Make a Difference Day to share their career skills and personal hobbies, as well as making local communities thriving and happy places.”
