Norovirus closes Alex Hospital ward

AN outbreak of highly infectious Norovirus has meant that ward 11 of the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch has been closed.
Visitors are being urged to stay away and visit only if absolutely necessary.
If anyone has any symptoms of Norovirus, such as diarrhoea and/or vomiting, they are being told to stay at home.
A spokesman said: “It is especially important that anyone who is feeling unwell should not visit hospitals as this increases the risk of spreading the infection to patients and staff and therefore increases the possibility of ward closures.
“Telephone your GP or NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 for advice if the symptoms do not quickly subside or you have additional concerns.”
