Don't be rubbish, get your bins out on time!

RESIDENTS across Redditch are being asked to ensure their bins are left out for collection on time to avoid a missed collection.

To ensure that all wheelie bins are emptied, Redditch Council is advising all residents to put their wheelie bin out by 7.30am on collection day, or even the night before if possible.

The council’s collection crews have over 34,000 homes to visit each week, and can encounter various issues such as roadworks or even unexpected obstacles in the road.

This means that they need the flexibility to be able to change the order of their rounds on a day to day basis. If they have to return to roads which have failed to put their bin out this flexibility is disrupted.

The council is committed to making services as efficient as possible. Residents are urged to understand why the collection crews are only able to visit every road once.

Councillor Debbie Taylor, the council’s portfolio holder for local environment, said: “Residents need to take responsibility for their bins and put them out on time. It is inefficient for our collection crews to return to roads where bins have been put out late.

“It is easy to put your bin out the night before so you don’t have to worry about it in the morning when you are busy getting ready for work, getting your children ready or even sleeping and might miss the collection.

“Let’s keep Redditch clean and green and make sure our bins are out for collection on time.”
