CHILDREN who particpated in the Dads & Lads project run by Jestaminute Community Theatre c.i.c. were recently presented with copies of the books they had written at the Valley Stadium, home of Redditch United.

The project was funded by an education and learning development grant from Redditch Council and was supported by Redditch United Football Club (RUFC) which provided a venue for the activities but also gave season tickets to participants to allow them to carry on meeting up after the project had finished.

The books and season tickets were presented at the ground by Sallie Swan, vice chair of RUFC immediately before kick-off at the home game with Hemel Hempstead.

The dads and lads involved in the project worked with Andy Higgitt and Kevin Hunton of Jestaminute to make props and toys to inspire story telling.

The main theme chosen was pirates, which included some traditional buccaneers of the high seas and some futuristic space pirates.

They then used these, plus purchased figures, to build storyboards to create their own unique story book.

Mr Higgitt said: “This was a fun project to be involved with. The dads and lads worked really well together and we were all delighted with the original story books that they created. Everyone involved wants to know when they could do it again.”
