A REDDITCH pupil has won an iPad in a free prize draw, thanks to Worcestershire County Council's sustainable travel initiative Choose How You Move.

Joe Wakeman, aged 11, from Ridgeway Middle School, was one of hundreds of visitors who came to a Choose How You Move stand at a summer street theatre event organised by Redditch Council, to learn about how they can travel more sustainably. The presentation of the iPad was made during a surprise assembly in front of the school.

Choose How You Move is a three-year programme which aims to help people find ways of walking, cycling, using the bus or car sharing more often. By doing so, it is possible to improve health and fitness, save money, and reduce congestion and carbon emissions to improve air quality.

Kevin Thompson, marketing and communications officer for Choose How You Move, said: "We had a brilliant response to the prize draw, which also invites entrants to receive news, information and support by email about the programme.

"There are more events scheduled over the coming months. Choose How You Move will be at each of them, speaking to as many people as possible about how sustainable travel choices can be enjoyable and beneficial."

Choose How You Move can be found at further upcoming events in Redditch including a firework display at Arrow Valley Park on Thursday, November 1; Be Seen at Kingfisher Shopping Centre on Thursday, November 8; and the Christmas lights switch-on in Redditch town centre on Saturday, November 24.

Several other winners received runner-up prizes in the free draw. For details, and for more information on Choose How You Move, see www.chooseredditch.com.
