Redditch MP to host jobs fair at NEW College
8:40am Saturday 13th October 2012 in Local
REDDITCH MP Karen Lumley is hosting a jobs fair in the town on Friday, October 26.
Approximately 30 local and regional businesses and service organisations, including those from manufacturing, retail, recruitment agencies and Government organisations, have signed up to the event which is to be held at the sports hall at NEW College, Redditch from 10am-3pm.
Representatives from British Army Careers, Sainsbury’s, Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue Service, West Midlands Ambulance Service, Mettis Aerospace, Marubeni-Komatsu and Birmingham Airport will be on hand to offer advice and help in securing jobs available within their organisations.
Other Redditch-based companies including Knights Pharmacy, Rockline Industries, Oakland International and the Lear Corporation are also amongst many others to be exhibiting.
Redditch Jobcentre Plus staff will be present to lead job hunters through vacancies and to advise on benefits, while Redditch Council can talk about business start-ups and finance for those interested in finding out how to start up their own businesses. CSV Redditch will be able to provide advice on CV writing and interview skills, while recruitment agencies E-Response and JHP Employability will also be represented.
Most of the companies on show have current job vacancies. It is anticipated there will be a number of pre-Christmas vacancies available, along with other, more permanent positions. Companies gain as well, as the event is free for them to exhibit.
Mrs Lumley said: “As MP for Redditch I want to do all in my power to help local people secure employment.
“I know there are jobs out there and available in Redditch at companies which are doing well and expanding. By the same score I know how many unemployed there are in Redditch, and if by running this event I can help get the two together I would consider that to be a great success.”
