TWO members of staff have retired from a Studley care home after serving more than 70 years between them.
Penny Caulwell, a member of the domestic staff, has worked at Four Acres Nursing Home for 37 and a half years, while care officer Christine Franklin has been there for 35 years.
Mrs Franklin has no plans to stop visiting the home.
She said: “I go back to Four Acres to do activities with the residents. It’s only two days a week, but I just enjoy working with them. It would have been a bit of a kick to retire completely, and it would be nice to keep going back.
“I do a lot of knitting and crocheting, I have got plenty of things prepared if I get bored, but it’s only up the road, and it’s lovely. It’s a lovely place to work. I’ve worked my way through there knowing everybody.”
Mrs Caulwell is looking back on her time at Four Acres with fond memories.
She added: “When I first started there, my twins were 18 months old, and they’re 40 this month. I enjoyed every minute of it. I just loved the people I worked with and I loved the people I looked after, and I just never wanted to leave.”
Assistant manager Alistair Print, said: “We will absolutely miss them both. They were a very big part of the home. It’s lovely to have Christine still here popping back in and the residents love her.
“They’ve done a lot for the home and a lot for the residents.”
