Man charged after Redditch street robbery arrests

A MAN is due to appear in court charged with a street robbery in Redditch after he was arrested along with two other men in connection with that and similar offences in the same part of the town over the past week.

The 18-year-old, from Leicester, was charged with robbing a 16-year-old youth of a BlackBerry mobile in Wirehill Drive, Lodge Park, on Monday, September 24.

He was bailed to appear before Redditch magistrates on October 9.

The man was arrested along with two others on suspicion of the Wirehill Drive robbery, a knifepoint robbery in an underpass off Harport Road last week, and an attempted robbery the same week in an underpass between Greenlands Drive and a path over the Alvechurch Highway.

The two other men, both in their late teens or early 20s and from Redditch, have been released on police bail until October 3 pending further inquiries.

Anyone with information about the offences is being urged to contact Redditch CID on the non-emergency number 101, or give details anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
