Graffiti and anti-social behaviour solved

BATCHLEY local policing team and staff from Redditch Council have been working hard to resolve graffiti and anti-social behaviour.

Following several PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meetings held at St David's House in Batchley, community support officers and staff from the council were made aware of a number of problems.

These involved young children playing on the grass in front of the bungalows in Willow Way, playing ball games and being noisy.

There was also a large amount of graffiti on the wall leading to the complex and vehicles had been parked on the pavement blocking access for elderly residents who often use mobility aids.

For about 10 weeks the area was closely monitored by officers who patrolled daily and when necessary moved the youngsters on.

Now the graffiti has been removed and there are double yellow lines in place on the road.

PC Frances Warren from Batchley local policing team said: "This is an excellent example of how PACT can work with residents to provide solutions to local issues.

"We are grateful for the part Redditch Council has played in resolving the graffiti and parking problems.

"As always we will be regularly patrolling the area to keep a close eye on things and hopefully the area will remain clear of graffiti and anti-social behaviour in the future."

PACT surgery meetings at St David's House are held weekly on Wednesdays between 11am and noon.

Anyone who works or lives locally is welcome to attend.

Police presence is a deterrent to crimes of graffiti vandalism as noted at www.DefacingAmerica.
com . We need to do more to prevent and control tags and other acts of graffiti crime.
