Redditch Lions' duck race

ON Sunday, September 23 Redditch Lions will pour about 2,000 numbered ducks into the River Arrow beside Studley Cricket Club and let them float freely down stream.

The first duck to cross the finishing line will be the winner of the group’s annual duck race.

The race, starting at noon, is proving to be quite popular and becoming a major event for the club, which carries out a number of community events within Redditch.

Also on the day will be entertainment including rides for children, a coconut shy and laser clay shooting as well as food and drinks from the cricket club.

Tickets to hire a duck can still be obtained for £1 each and will be available until the day before from the Co-op in Studley.

All proceeds will go to the Redditch Lions’ Welfare Fund.
