Plans for Redditch Model Railway's 45th anniversary show are on track

THINGS are well on track to makes this year’s Redditch Model Railway Show the best ever.

In a year of anniversaries for the Redditch Model Railway Club, this year’s show over the weekend of September 15 and 16 September, will not only celebrate 45 years of the club but also the 20th anniversary of the club’s flagship layout Arrowmouth first being exhibited.

September brings a new start for the autumn season of model railway exhibitions in the West Midlands and Redditch Model Railway Club will be staging its 45th Anniversary Model Railway Exhibition at Trinity High School, Grove Street, Redditch.

A total of 16 well-known layouts in popular scales will be exhibited, including the club’s Arrowmouth and Buckshee layouts together with other famous layouts such as Stodmarsh and Pen-Y-Bont.

All this is supported by 15 trade stands plus demonstration stands of railway modelling techniques.

Exhibitors at the show will be travelling from all over the country and a number of them will be staying at the White Hart Inn, in Headless Cross during the weekend, the very same place the Redditch Model Railway Club was formed 45 years ago on the June 1, 1967.

Guy Craddock, exhibition manager, said: “ After 45 years of staging model railway exhibitions each year, they are still proving to be very popular with visitors who travel from all over the country.

“We hope may more will visit this year’s show to make the event even better.”

Admission prices to the show are adults £5, children and senior citizens £4 and families of two adults and two children, £14. Refreshments will be available at the exhibition and there is ample parking.
