Aspiring actors look here!

ASPIRING actors in Redditch are in luck, a new performing arts academy has been set up in Astwood Bank.

RAPA (Redditch Academy of Performing Arts) is for children and young adults and hopes to bring a new approach to performing arts training.

Set up by Redditch-based actress Sophie Grogan and fellow actor Daniel Summers, it will be held at Astwood Bank First School and launches on February 26.

Ms Grogan said: “Daniel and I trained at Mountview Academy of Performing Arts, one of the best musical theatre schools in the country, so we want to pass on our theatre skills and professional experience to the next generation of performers.”

Since graduating, Ms Grogan has worked in television and theatre and will be performing in the closing ceremony for the 2012 Olympic Games while Mr Summers has worked as an actor, singer, musician and musical director.

She added: “Many schools teach singing, dancing and acting separately, but we hope to integrate these as much as possible in a fun and original way.

“If you’re six and above, we would love to hear from you.”

Additional workshops for aspiring performers will also be taking place, providing unique opportunities for performers who would like to progress in the industry.
