In a bid to put the town on the urban soul electro map, an up-and-local group has chosen Redditch train station to star in its new video.
The group, called Sumthin’ Special, decided to use the station as the backdrop to their new song Rave.
The song describes the stages of getting ready to go out, which includes a train journey from Redditch into Birmingham.
Lead vocalist, Luke Ebanks (AKA That Man Fox), said: “I wanted to make sure we had a venue that reflected the song and as we usually start our night with the train journey from Redditch, the station was the natural choice.
“We’ve all grown up in the area, so I wanted to make sure the video had a local feel to it.”
The video was made and directed by local filmmaking outfit Screamadelic.
Luke, 23, added: “Lots of people in Redditch use the train station, so it’s instantly recognisable, which is exactly what I wanted for the video.”
Peter Dobbin, London Midland customer service manager, said: “It’s not often I’m asked by musicians for a local rail station to star in a music video, but when the premise for the video was explained it was easy to see why they made the request.”
The single Rave will be released this summer.
