MORE than 450 hungry diners braved the cold weather on Saturday to raise thousands of pounds for charities.

The annual Britain's Biggest Breakfast attracted flocks of Redditch and Bromsgrove families to Tardebigge Community Hall on Saturday (March 17), raising £3,700 to be split between Bromsgrove's Primrose Hospice and Cancer Research UK.

Local suppliers donated ingredients, including Rowberry's at Chaddesley Corbett and Bromsgrove's Banner Foods, and prizes were awarded during a tombola.

Co-organiser Helen Hirons said: "We thought the weather might put some people off but it was actually busier than we expected.

"There was a constant flow of people all morning - we were running out of tables and chairs.

"The men from Bromsgrove Farmers Club did a great job with the cooking, especially considering the freezing conditions, and there was a great community atmosphere."
