A SPARKLING Christmas is set to return to Redditch this weekend with the town’s annual Lights Switch On.

Visitors wanting to get into the festive spirit will be able to enjoy the free annual treat of seasonal activities on Saturday, November 25.

The town’s community Christmas parade will set off from the town hall at 2pm, with the procession winding through the town centre, into the heart of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre before finishing at the Church Green.

Stage activity will start at 2pm with Free Radio providing the soundtrack to proceedings.

Presenter Naomi, from the Breakfast Show, will run competitions and free giveaways during the afternoon.

Led by Redditch Borough Council, the Town Centre Partnership and Kingfisher, this year’s event promises to be an event the whole family can enjoy.

Local charity group Betel will open the show with joyous Victorian carols, while resident artist Stuart Woolfenden and girl group The Violettes will follow.

The beautiful Snow Queen and Princess will then grace the stage for an energetic and fun-filled family performance.

Hugely popular Britain's Got Talent finalists, Stormtrooper dance troupe Boogie Storm will perform from 4.15pm, before Father Christmas himself makes an appearance to switch on the town centre lights at 5pm.

From 5pm, Boogie Storm will again return for a special ‘meet and greet’ inside the Kingfisher for fans to grab a fun selfie.

Christmas festivities will continue with tasty food and drinks and a brass band playing classic festive tunes on Church Green until 5.45pm.

Domonique Lippett, from the Kingfisher said: “We’re thrilled to reveal the line-up for this year’s Town Centre Christmas Lights Switch On. There is a jam-packed programme of activity planned, and plenty to keep the whole family entertained throughout the afternoon and evening.

“The Boogie Storm performers are also set to be a huge hit. Their fun dance routine was a real crowd pleaser on last year’s Britain’s Got Talent show and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next weekend. We look forward to welcoming families along to help mark the start of the season in true festive style.”
