The firework was thrown into the Silver House take-away on Drakes Cross Parade at around 6pm on November 6.

Police and fire services attended the incident and fortunately nobody was injured.

“They could maim people for life, including themselves.

“If we catch people doing this they are committing an offence and they will be dealt with accordingly.”

Police are asking anyone with information to contact 101 and quote 22/11609/17, or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Pc Albutt added: “It is an offence to throw or fire a firework in or onto any highway, street or public place. It is an offence to set off a firework in a street.

“The local policing team will be visiting local schools and youth clubs to make them aware of the dangers of fireworks."
