WARNINGS have been issued by police after a "significant spike" in reports of theft from cars in the Church Hill area of Redditch.

Many of the incidents involve windows being smashed and valuables being taken, with residents urged to take proactive steps to reduce the risk of their vehicle being targeted.

Sergeant Mandy Partridge from West Mercia Police said: "We are experiencing a significant spike in reports of theft from motor vehicles in the Church Hill area of Redditch.

"The majority of incidents are occurring overnight and involve windows being smashed, and valuables being taken, in particular dash cams, satnavs and/or tools.

"Police are taking proactive steps to ascertain who is responsible and would appeal to anyone who has any evidence or information that may assist, to contact Church Hill SNT.

"Please reduce the risk to your vehicle by removing valuables from view and ensuring that they are locked and secure."
