A VITAL service which helps the most vulnerable families in Redditch has closed.

Reach CIC (community interest company) closed The Link office in Winyates Centre last week due to funding cuts.

All services The Link provided, access to 6Towns Credit Union and financial advice, have been transferred to The Space in Winyates, but on a reduced basis to fit in with other activities that take place there during the week.

Liz Williams, from REACH CIC, said: “It is very sad but we have been unable to secure any funding for the centre to allow us to keep our free services to the most hard-pressed communities in Redditch.

"Agencies from across the county refer people to the services but due to the pressure of funding cuts we are unable to support it.”

In the year to 30th April 2017, 7,883 people used the range of services and activities provided by REACH CIC in both The Link and The Space.

Funding cuts across the public sector have meant an ever-increasing reliance on organisations such as REACH CIC to fill the gaps left in provision.

It is currently contacting local businesses to explore the possibility of sponsorship of some of its activities.
