A COMMUNITY group which encourages people to have fun as well as lead a healthier life is celebrating a special milestone.

Skaters Club, a non-profit organisation, is based at the Abbey Stadium and offers weekly skating/scooter sessions and roller discos.

It was established to help people lead healthier lifestyles, plus provide the best skating experience for new and experienced skaters.

This year the group is celebrating its 21st anniversary.

It wants to hear form as many former and present members as possible before a month long celebration is held in August.

Marc Lucas, Skaters Club manager said: "Over the past 21 years as you can imagine we have had thousands of members of the community attend. Our family based sessions are available for all ages to keep everyone active whilst having fun and learning new skills.

"Throughout August in celebration we would love to be able to bring together past and present customers whom have joined in throughout our 21 years.

"Whether it would be reminiscing of when they joined at a young age and now come with their children, maybe turning into a professional skater, or even attending on a first date. We would love to hear and share people's stories."

He added the aim was to share stories and pictures around the venue throughout August for people to come and look at.

Mr Lucas said: "We were unable to celebrate our 20th anniversary last August due to Abbey Stadium's refurbishment project and feel reaching 21 years is massive achievement."
