AN artisan market to celebrate the best of Warwickshire produce is being held in Great Alne.

On Friday, June 9, producers from across the county have been invited to show off the best of their wares at Maudslay Park retirement community, with complimentary samples of food and drink to be offered to guests.

The market event will recognise the site’s former use as a shadow factory for The Maudslay Motor Company during the Second World War. Vintage cars, provided by the British Motor Museum, will be on display, including a 1934 Standard Speedline and a 1936 MG SA. Local singer, Melissa Hollick, will entertain guests with a repertoire of vintage tunes.

Refreshments on offer will include charcuterie from local farm shop, Hillers, a selection of cheeses from award-winning Stratford-upon-Avon based cheesemonger, Paxton & Whitfield, cakes from Orange Mabel, sweet treats from Henley Ice Cream and local beer from Great Alne’s own The Purity Brewing Company.

In further recognition of the site’s automobile heritage, gourmet slider burgers will be offered from The Little Camion, a Citroen HY Truck.

Duncan Walker, managing director of Renaissance Villages who have organised the event, said: "There is a thriving food and drinks scene in Warwickshire, in addition to a well-established tradition of weekly markets. Our artisan market will celebrate the rich culinary culture of the area whilst also allowing guests the opportunity to explore our first completed homes at Maudslay Park."
