MORE than 40 jobs at Redditch firm AMS Retail Interiors Limited have been lost, following the news that the business has entered administration.

A further 101 jobs remain under threat at the Oxleasow Road business, as administrators retained staff to assist them in fulfilling orders.

The company is the main trading entity of the AMS International Group, which manufactures, distributes and installs commercial interiors predominately in the retail sector, both in the UK and worldwide.

Administrators, who say that they've been instructed due to "significant challenges" in the retail sector including "increasing competition" and "pricing pressures", made the redundancies on Tuesday, January 10.

Mark Orton and Will Wright from KPMG were appointed joint administrators of AMS Retail Interiors Limited on Friday, January 6.

Mr Orton said: "The company has faced significant challenges in recent times, through increasing competition, pricing pressures and general difficulties within the retail sector. Despite management’s best efforts to improve performance the business, the directors were unable to find a way forward and took the difficult decision to place the company into administration.

"The company continues to trade in the short term whilst it seeks support from its customers to fulfil outstanding orders and the administrators market it for sale. We would encourage anybody who may be interested to contact the joint administrators as soon as possible."
