A CHOIR surprised unsuspecting visitors at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre yesterday.
Rock Choir members from Redditch and Bromsgrove staged a flash mob in the centre on Thursday.
The show, followed by an uplifting performance, was in aid of the group's fundraising campaign for the music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins.
At exactly 6.30pm, shoppers heard a solo voice; soon enough, 70 choir members had joined in and the centre was filled with a rousing rendition of Beyonce Knowles' Halo.
Local Rock Choir leader Christa Hugo said: "We are keen supporters of Nordoff Robbins and when the Kingfisher Centre asked us to put on a Christmas performance, we thought we could go one better and stage a flash mob as well.
"It certainly took everyone by surprise and I think it encouraged a few more donations."
The impromptu event raised £123 which is well in excess of the amount needed to fund a whole day's worth of music therapy for children in hospital.
