ON Monday Redditch MP karen Lumley held a meeting with hospital bosses and on Tuesday she was back as a patient.

The Advertiser reported how the MP went in for a "planned but serious" surgical procedure.

The operation will mean that she is unable to carry out full Parliamentary duties for at least six weeks, and will also not be able to undertake constituency visits and meetings until sometime in late November.

It can be revealed that the operation went well and that she can expect to be discharged from hospital very soon to start her recovery at home.

The MP thanked everyone for their messages of goodwill.

She said: "Please be assured that while I will be unavailable to undertake appointments in person, much of my business will carry on as normal and my offices in Westminster and in Redditch will continue to operate as they should.

"I will continue to monitor my e-mails and other correspondence and during my recovery will be able to undertake light desk duties from home.

"This was a planned procedure which I have known was needed. Everyone who knows me will know that I am not the kind of person who will want to sit around doing nothing, but the medical advice is that I take at least six weeks off work so that is what I will be doing."

The meeting on Monday was with Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust management and other interested parties following the recent public meeting.

The MP added that if anyone had any questions they were unable to ask on the night they can email her on karen.lumley.mp@parliament.uk and she will get the questions answered by the appropriate people.
