THE tiny village of Sambourne, near Studley, is continuing to fly the royal flag for the Help For Heroes charity as a fundraising drive kick-started by celebrations for the Queen's 90th birthday shot through the £900 mark.
And organisers of the birthday bash held on Sambourne Village Green earlier this month are urging local people to top up the £935 raised so far to pass £1,000.
The Jubilee pub in Studley, which provided a free bar for the event, continues to host collection tins and merchandise for the charity.
Philip Bond, his wife, Mandy, and others on the Queen's Royal Party organising committee thanked everyone for the donations so far.
"We had just the best weekend ever on June 11 and 12 and this news has just been the icing on the cake," said Mr Bond.
"If we can reach more than £1,000 it will be a record-breaker for Sambourne."
Celebrations in the village included an exhibition at the Parish Hall, including photographs, pictures, postcards and other items showing what life was like in Sambourne, Coughton and surrounding areas 90 years ago, compared to now.
