POLICE have launched an appeal following a convenience store robbery in Drakes Cross Parade, Hollywood, this week.

At around 9.50pm on Wednesday, May 18 a staff member felt pressure against his back and turned around to see a man holding a blunt object to him.

The man, described as described as being mixed race, approximately 6ft tall and of slim build, made several demands for the cash tills to be opened.

When staff explained that they had no keys and therefore could not open the till, the man moved behind the cash desk and forced it open.

While the man was distracted, a staff member escaped to the rear of the store and rang the police.

The thief managed to retrieve an amount of cash from the tills before leaving on foot in the direction of Alcester Road, towards the Maypole.

e was wearing a navy blue hooded top, navy blue jogging bottoms, black trainers and a black hat and scarf masking his head and face.

It is believed that the offender approached the store from the direction of Sawhurst Lane.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw a man fitting his description acting suspiciously in the area at the time, is urged to contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 663s.
