WORLD class cyclists will be racing through the centre of Redditch later today as the men and women's Pearl Izumi Tour Series arrives.

Thousands of people are expected to turn out for the event bringing elite cycling to the heart of the town centre.

The races will take place on the same 1.4-kilometre circuit based around the Church Green West finish area, including the climb of Unicorn Hill on every lap.

Each of the elite races will tackle multiple laps of the spectator friendly town centre circuit, providing a chance for fans to get close to the action.

A number of events and activities will also be taking place in the town throughout the afternoon, before the racing begins.

Mick Bennett, from the Pearl Izumi Tour Series, said: “We are delighted to be able to return to Redditch with the Pearl Izumi Tour Series, for what has rapidly become one of the cornerstone events of the Series, with a great circuit and a passionate crowd.

The action kicks off from 3pm onwards.
