A REDDITCH woman is in the running to be crowned Miss Black Country in the prestigious Miss England competition.

Hayley Farmer was born in West Bromwich but moved to Redditch when she was young.

As part of the competition, Hayley, who recently spent the day at Acorns Children's Hospice for the charity's summer fate, has to raise money for Beauty With A Purpose.

The charity helps disadvantaged children across Worcestershire as well as raising cash and participating in humanitarian projects across the world.

Hayley has organised a fundraising event on Friday, May 6 at the Royal Oak in Studley involving live music, a raffle with great prizes, a photo booth, and much more.

Tickets cost £3 each and all money goes to the charity.

The 24-year-old said helping raise cash and awareness for the charity was one of the reasons she decided to enter.

"I enjoy all fundraising, helping people, and just getting involved really," she said.

"It's about proving to people that you can achieve anything if you put your heart into it."

If she wins Miss Black Country she will become the ambassador for the area and go through to the finals of Miss England.

She added: "So far I've enjoyed every minute of the competition."
