PEOPLE in Alcester and Redditch are being urged to get their computers and laptops virus checked for free following a spate of hoax calls.

BuzzTech Digital, in High Street, Alcester, is offering the free checks between Tuesday, February 9 and Tuesday, February 23.

Shop owner Thomas Print said: "We want to help people. Companies are ringing up claiming they’re from Microsoft.

"Once they have access to your computer they take you to a page which says you have 150 viruses, they then offer to clean it for £200 to £300 but they actually haven’t removed them at all.

"I’ve had it happen to a family member, they lost £200 to £300.

"I am just aiming to prevent it happening to someone else."

Mr Print will pick up and drop back your device for free if you live in Alcester but Redditch residents would have to pay a small fee for this service, alternatively checks can be arranged in store.

If repairs are needed, Mr Print will do them at a discounted price.

To book a computer check or for further advice on computer viruses call Mr Print on 01789 766554 or visit the store.
